    Remembering Shotzie

Shotzie was Maltese rescued from a commercial breeding facility in 2014 by NMDR. She was a commercial breeder for nearly 7 years and when rescued, she had a mouth full of rotten teeth and a few masses that all needed to be removed. Her life was forever changed from the day she was rescued. She was spoiled like the princess she was always meant to be. Due to no teeth, she had this crazy long tongue that hung out of her mouth 100% of the time…in fact, she was well known for her super long tongue. This little spitfire was a testament of resiliency. As she aged, she slowly lost her sight and most of her hearing. At the beginning of the pandemic, she lost her first eye followed 14 months later by her second eye. Neither loss slowed this girl down. She was the queen of eating and always knew when it was time to eat…ensuring everyone in the house knew what time it was. At 15 years old, her tiny little body finally decided it was time for the next big adventure. Shotzie departed peacefully in her mom’s arms with her two brothers faithfully by her side protecting her to the very end. She will be forever missed and loved.
