W hen we created White Whiskers, we wanted to be intentional about the kind of practice we were building and the impact we would have on our community and clients.  The Mom and Pop veterinary experience is increasingly hard to find in these days of corporate takeovers. But at White Whiskers, we take the notion of family very seriously. We are proud to be a locally owned part of your Colorado Springs community. We welcome you to come be a part of OUR family.

Our goal isn’t to merely show up at the last possible moment, but to join you in the entire journey of old age with your companion. We don’t aim to merely reach old age, but to enrich it and celebrate it. And when we come to the end of our path together we want you to know that you can rely on us for that most challenging of transitions because when it comes time to help a beloved pet say goodbye, it is so important that it be with a friend and neighbor.

Dr. Kelly Hutchison

Co-Owner

Dr. Kelly Hutchison received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University (2011), Certification in Canine Rehabilitation Therapy from the Canine Rehabilitation Institute (2013) and Certification in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture from Colorado State University (2017). She is currently pursuing certification as a Certified Canine Pain Practitioner (CVPP). When not working, Dr. Kelly loves spending time outdoors with her family hiking and camping.

Prior to her veterinary career, Dr. Hutchison was an English major and spent 2 years in Hawaii teaching kindergarten and 6th grade English summer school. Though she did not stay in the field of human teaching, she credits this time in her life with providing the foundation of her passion for connecting with ‘parents’ and helping them to understand what’s happening with their furry companions.

Dr. Hutchison loves to read and often comes home from her day with books lent to her by clients. She is so thankful that White Whiskers has provided her the opportunity to better help her patients and to connect with her “pet parents” on a whole new level.

Dr. Robert Hutchison

Co-Owner

Dr. Robert Hutchison attended Duke University for undergrad, received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University (2013) and completed a residency in comparative anatomic veterinary pathology at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center (2016) to nearly round out a North Carolina ACC collegiate experience.

Although they met prior to veterinary school, Dr. Kelly was responsible for pulling Dr. Robert into the veterinary world from his previous career writing and producing network television for the Discovery and National Geographic networks. Prior to TV land, he spent several years in the field of contract archeology pursuing the mysteries of the past with a shovel in hand.

Dr. Robert has been proud to assist the pet owners of the Colorado Springs as an end-of-life veterinary practitioner, initially with Home with Dignity, before pursuing his own, local practice with his wife, Dr. Kelly Hutchison. He welcomes the opportunity to continue that legacy of comfort, guidance and celebration with all of the dedicated dog and cat owners of the Front Range and is honored to embark on this journey with his family and with yours.

Julie Emanuelson, RVT

Practice Manager / Care Technician

Julie has over 12 years experience working in the veterinary field in multiple capacities. She has volunteered at wildlife sanctuaries, nonprofit organizations, and animal shelters before coming to Colorado. After graduating from Bel Rea School of Veterinary Technology with an Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology, she worked in mixed animal general practice in Northern Colorado. In  Colorado Springs, Julie gained valuable experience working at a local Veterinary Emergency Clinic before finding her way to White Whiskers.

Julie is a firm believer that all creatures great and small deserve calm and compassionate care, and that our beloved oldies should be able to age as gracefully and dignified as possible. It is hard to see your beloved friend get older, but having that good connection and experience at their end of life is so important and makes the transition just a bit easier.

In what spare time she has, Julie enjoys traveling far and wide, spending time outdoors, reading, crocheting, playing video games, and is currently learning to garden with mixed success. She has 3 cats (Moose, Bug and MorRioghain) and 1 dog (Yura) filling her home with laughter and energy.

Kelli Haskins

Care Technician / Rescue Coordinator

Kelli is a Colorado native with a passion for running, paddle boarding, and all things outdoors. She married her husband Chris in 2017 after welcoming their son Carter in 2014. Kelli had over 7 years of experience working in veterinary clinics in positions ranging from client care to practice management before finding her calling in animal rescue work and end-of-life support. Prior to coming to White Whiskers, Kelli helped hundreds of loving pet owners find the support they needed to help their companions pass with dignity.

We are thrilled to have Kelli assist us in setting up new relationships with our area rescue organizations so that White Whiskers can continue its mission of giving to the dogs and cats of the Greater Colorado Springs area.

Kelli is very passionate about all things animal, but especially senior animal adoption. Kelli and her family adopted their first senior dog, a goofy yellow lab named Max in 2016. Learning to care for him and all of his needs as an old man developed Kelli’s passion for senior animal care.  Kelli and her family currently share their home with three dogs and lots of fish!

Emily Todd, RVT

Care Technician

Emily is a graduate of Colorado Academy of Veterinary Technology where she received her associate of applied science in veterinary technology. She also obtained a bachelor of fine arts from Colorado State University. For the past several years, she has worked as a certified veterinary technician at a beloved local practice. Emily is a firm believer that all pets deserve compassionate geriatric and end-of-life care. She is grateful for the opportunity to help facilitate this kind of care for pet owners and their beloved four-legged family members.

Emily and her husband spend a vast majority of their time raising their inquisitive, precocious boy, Dexter. Though her four-legged companion Monster is no longer here, his legacy has left a lasting mark on Emily’s heart and has grown her love of senior pets. A new arrival, Duncan the border collie, has big shoes to fill. In her spare time, Emily enjoys films, podcasts, making art, and playing the piano.

Ashley Miller, PVT

Care Technician

Ashley moved here from Michigan after visiting annually as a child and falling in love with the mountains and sunny four seasons. From performing with her dog in the 6th grade talent show, to rescuing a mouse from the high school janitor, animals have been her passion her entire life. She has been working as a veterinary technician since 2020 and has spent time in both general practice and emergency care before joining our team to focus on community driven medicine. She is chronically online and is our resident Gen Z guide through the cosmos of social media.

Ashley also works with Rocky Mountain Spay Neuter, helping to provide surgeries, along with volunteering at numerous local nonprofits. Because of her passion for animal rights, she has lobbied for anti puppy mill legislation in the Springs and D.C. She has pursued additional science education to become a National Geographic Educator, furthering her knowledge on conservation efforts. At her core, Ashley’s brand is caring deeply about making the world a better place through environmental efforts and animal welfare.

In her free time she enjoys hiking, skiing, and climbing with her husband Nicholas. They love to travel and enjoy new cultures and food together. While at home, they enjoy their Newfoundland Grizzly, lab mix Duke, cats Elsa and Sonny, and leopard gecko Arya.

My name is Fiona. I’m now in 5th grade and I’m proud to be the CEO of White Whiskers. We started White Whiskers when I was in kindergarten, but we’ve come so far since that time. We’ve really built a place where our patients and their people are our main priority. I might still be young, but I think when you’re going through tough times, you need someone to have your back. And that’s what White Whiskers is all about.
